2012 O'Leary Walker Watervale Riesling and 2012 O'Leary Walker Polish Hill River Riesling
The 2012 Clare Valley Rieslings are looking good, going on a pretty pair from O’Leary Walker Wines. The O’Leary Walker Watervale Riesling 2012 is from fruit from 45-year old vines grown on the limestone flecked terra rossa of Watervale. David O’Leary and Nick Walker say they harvest “these glories with relish, taking care to entrap and preserve their ravishing lime and lemon freshness”. The luscious lime flavours are enhanced by bracing acidity. Gold, Brisbane.
The O’Leary Walker Polish Hill River Clare Valley Riesling 2012 is from organically grown grapes at Doctors and Martin Smith vineyards on either side of Blue Cutting Road. Pale straw coloured and with a blossomy bouquet, it has a delicately poised palate with minerality giving a distinctive edge to a pleasing mouthfeel.
